Belfast’s Carl “The Jackal” Frampton (23-1, 14 KOs) finally returns to the ring at the city’s SSE Arena this Saturday night as he bids to end a nightmare 2017 with a victory over Mexico’s Horacio Garcia (33-3-1, 24 early) on a Frank Warren-promoted show that will be televised by BoxNation and BT Sports here in the U.K.
Carl Frampton is eager to maintain his impressive stoppage record at the SSE Odyssey Arena when he returns to the venue after a two-and-a-half year absence on Saturday night. Belfast’s two-weight world champion makes his homecoming at ‘The Jackal’s Den’ on a ‘Frampton Reborn’ fight card, live on BT Sport and BoxNation, taking on Mexican Horacio Garcia.
Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will be cheering for a shock upset on Saturday night as the Mexican superstar will be ringside in Belfast to support fellow Guadalajara native Horacio Garcia against hometown hero Carl Frampton. ‘The Jackal’ tops a massive ‘Frampton Reborn’ fight bill this weekend in what will be his first home bout in over two-and-a-half years, live on BT Sport and BoxNation, at the SSE Odyssey Arena.
It's just under two weeks until the return of the Jackal to the ring, when Carl Frampton (23-1, 14 KOs) will headline what he believes will be the biggest show Ireland has ever hosted. The Belfast fighter went from becoming Northern Ireland's first two weight world champion, to falling out of love with boxing within the space of a year.
Shane McGuigan has no feelings of regret about his splits with Carl Frampton and David Haye. The trainer has also dismissed suggestions he is under pressure to again prove himself. McGuigan oversaw George Groves' first defence of his WBA super middleweight title last Saturday, when the 29-year-old reached the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series by knocking out Jamie Cox.
Josh Warrington has a message to Frank Warren stablemate, Carl Frampton: “Let’s fill Elland Road.” Warrington is a big admirer of the two weight World Champion who recently signed for Warren and boxes Horacio Garcia at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena on November 18. And Frampton will be eyeing up Warrington when his rival faces Dennis Ceylan in a IBF Featherweight title Final Eliminator at First Direct Arena, Leeds on October 21.
Carl Frampton feels Leo Santa Cruz is pursuing a rematch with Abner Mares over a rubber match against him because Santa Cruz thinks it’s an easier fight. Santa Cruz has repeatedly stated that he’ll battle Mares again if they win their featherweight title fights Saturday night in Carson, California. The target date for the Santa Cruz-Mares rematch is sometime in March in Los Angeles, according to Richard Schaefer, whose company is co-promoting the FOX doubleheader that’ll feature Santa Cruz and Mares (7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT).
Carl Frampton’s former trainer Shane McGuigan has admitted that the two have not spoken since Frampton’s Belfast homecoming fight against Anders Gutierrez was cancelled at the last minute in July after the Mexican slipped while getting into the shower and suffered cuts to his face. “The Jackal” had also missed the featherweight limit the day before the ill-fated contest was spiked.
LONDON, England - Northern Irish boxer Carl Frampton says he has cut his sparring regimen by more than half to reduce his chances of developing brain damage. The 30-year-old former two-weight world champion faces Mexico's Horacio Garcia in Belfast on November 18. On that same card, IBF junior bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas of Panabo City, Philippines defends against Jamie Conlan.
Former two-weight world titlist Carl Frampton, 23-1 (14 KOs) recently split with long-time mentor and promoter Barry McGuigan as well as announcing that Salford’s Jamie Moore will replace previous trainer Shane McGuigan. The Belfast-based boxer partially unified the Super bantamweight division under McGuigan's watch as well as adding the WBA Super World featherweight title to their trophy cabinet by beating Leo Santa Cruz by majority decision last year.
