Carl Frampton: record, next fight and profile →
Former two division world champion Carl Frampton has serious doubts that his fight with super featherweight world champion Jamel Herring will come off as planned in June. Earlier this week, promoter Frank Warren revealed that a deal had been reached for that contest to take place on a June date in Belfast.
Carl Frampton will get the chance to become a three-weight world champion later this year. The former WBA and IBF super-bantamweight world champion, who has also won a WBA belt at featherweight, is set to meet a world champion up at super-featherweight in a few months’ time.
Jamel Herring and Carl Frampton can look forward to meeting in the ring whenever boxing resumes with its normally scheduled programming. Both sides have reached an agreement for their forthcoming junior lightweight title fight, promoter Frank Warren announced on Wednesday.
Even in the wake of a global crisis, Jamel Herring remains fully focused on what will be the most notable fight of his pro career to date. As sporting events, schools and establishments and schools are shut down at an alarming rate around the world, the reigning junior lightweight titlist remains among those in the sport who have something definitive to look forward to in the future. With that comes his short-term wish, a future to look forward to, in and out of the ring.
Carl Frampton has drawn on the recent exploits of modern-day great Roman Gonzalez to inspire him in his bid to become a three-weight world champion. At the end of last month Gonzalez, 32, destroyed the three-year reign of Kal Yafai to take the Brit’s WBA super flyweight title in Dallas. Gonzalez topped off a mesmerising performance to knock Yafai out in the ninth round of their fight to become a two-time super flyweight champion adding to his stunning accomplishment as a four-weight world champion.
Carl Frampton’s challenge for Jamel Herring’s WBO super featherweight title will go ahead in Belfast on June 13. Herring had long ago agreed to go to Frampton’s home city for the fight, but the Northern Irishman first had to recover from operations on both his hands. The fight will be promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions in association with Top Rank. It is expected to be formally announced this week.
boxing legends, world champions, celebrities and more shared their predictions for the highly anticipated rematch between unbeaten WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder and undefeated lineal champion Tyson "The Gypsy King" Fury ahead of the historic, mega PPV event this Saturday, February 22 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Carl Frampton could have his next fight confirmed within weeks. The Northern Irishman was most recently in action in November when he outpointed Tyler McCreary over 10 rounds at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, exclusively live on ESPN+ Stateside and in the UK on BT Sport.
A highlight reel one punch knockout of Miguel Beltran Jr last September was the perfect way for Chris Colbert (13-0, 5 KOs) to cap off a productive and reputation enhancing 2019. Four fights, four wins, two early and two on points kept the 23-year-old Brooklynite busy and took him from fighting in his home borough to the likes of Minneapolis, Las Vegas and Bakersfield. This Saturday the charismatic super featherweight looks to kick off 2020 with a bang by bagging the interim WBA world title against former world champion Jezzrel Corrales in Philadelphia live on FOX and in the U.K on Boxnation.
Jamie Moore’s training career began as a favour to Tommy Coyle. A four-rounder against Jay Morris in Blackpool that came just over three years after Moore decided to hang up his own boxing gloves following a loss to Sergey Khomitsky, a Belarussian who became something of a bogeyman for British fighters between middleweight and super-middleweight.
