As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, the rematch between Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez and IBF, IBO, WBC, WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin will head over to The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 5th.

Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) and Canelo (49-1-2, 34 KOs) fought their first contest at the T-Mobile in September of last year.

After twelve rounds of action, the contest ended in a controversial twelve round split - with scores of 118-110 Canelo, 115-113 Golovkin and 114-114 for the draw.

Canelo is hoping to pull off his promised outcome on the biggest Mexican national holiday, Cinco de Mayo.

Canelo has an undefeated track record at the venue, with a brutal knockout of Amir Khan in 2016 and then a lopsided domination of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in May of 2017.

He intends to close the door on Golovkin by knocking him out inside the distance.

"I am happy to return for the fourth time at T-Mobile Arena for this historic rematch against [Gennady] Golovkin," said Canelo.

"I opened the doors of this place to the world of boxing, and it has become my favorite venue. This is where the fight started, and this is where I'll end it by doing what I and my fans most desire: knocking him out."
