Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell is highly motivated to get in the ring with the division's rising star, undefeated Ryan Garcia.

Recently, the World Boxing Council ordered Campbell and Garcia to collide for the vacant WBC interim-lightweight world title.

Campbell has been out of the ring since losing a spirited twelve round unanimous decision to unified champion Vasiliy Lomachenko in August of 2019.

Garcia will surely want the fight with Campbell in the United States.

Campbell will take the fight wherever, but he would prefer UK soil.

'I'd much prefer to fight in the UK, of course. (Promoter) Eddie (Hearn) did like the idea of - and has promised me - a fight in Hull at the end of September so we just have to wait and see. Whether Garcia will come to Hull or not is a different story:'I'm hopeful that by then we'll be allowed small crowds. It'd be a hell of shame not to have a crowd there to see what I'm going to do," Campbell told Daily Mail.

"[Coronavirus] has given me the opportunity to focus on myself more and study my previous fights,' he says. Since the Lomachenko fight, all I've done is really study myself and make little tweaks and adjustments to my style... if I've been watching myself and I've been doing this a certain way or a certain something against a certain style of opponent, I'll ring (trainer) Shane (McGuigan) and discuss it with him.

Despite the big edge in experience, there are some who view Campbell as the underdog with Garcia.

Campbell wants to prove to the critics that he still has a lot left in the tank.

'I certainly know deep down in myself, I have a few big performances to come A fight with Garcia would provide the perfect canvas to prove his point. (Garcia is) an up-and-coming, big star in America so me fighting him is only going to bring my name up and give me more exposure and obviously me beating him - which I will do - will propel my name even further in America and I can be in even bigger fights over there. It's a perfect fight," Campbell said.

"He looks like a good fighter. You can see he's got speed, he carries power, but once I start hitting him, you're going to see something else: I've not really followed him that much to be honest with you... he's not interested me, but obviously now my name has come up against his, now I'm interested."
