Plant: We're Gonna Get To Canelo, He's Got Fights Left On His Contract

•Feb 17, 2020

NASHVILLE—Caleb Plant knew the decision he was prepared to make would be met with considerable backlash. He also knows why he’s prepared to travel a path foreign to the average observer. The unbeaten super middleweight titlist was barely minutes removed from a 10th round stoppage of mandatory challenger Vincent Feigenbutz (31-3, 28KOs) when approached with the possibility of next facing Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. It slightly overshadowed an otherwise festive homecoming, with Ashland City’s Plant enjoying a Fox-televised headliner live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

NASHVILLE—The fight wasn’t necessarily over at the weigh-in, but the writing was already on the wall for Vincent Feigenbutz regardless of the result of his second bid at a major title. The 24-year old former interim titlist from Karlsruhe, Germany was undersized and significantly outgunned in his super middleweight title bid versus Caleb Plant, who delivered a showcase performance at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, less than 45 minutes from his Ashland City, Tennessee hometown. Feigenbutz (31-3, 28KOs) went in with a sound game plan, but it went awry in a hurry despite his hanging tough before suffering a 10th round stoppage loss in their Premier Boxing Champion (PBC) on Fox headliner.

NASHVILLE—With his long overdue homecoming finally in the books, Caleb Plant is ready to take on anyone in or around the super middleweight division. Yes, that includes Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. What it won’t include, however, is accommodating another fighter’s timetable—not even the sport’s most lucrative option.

NASHVILLE—There’s a time and place for Caleb Plant to be light and breezy. Fight week just ain’t it. Yet, it’s the complaint he’s forced to field ahead of the second defense of his super middleweight title, which comes versus Germany’s Vincent Feigenbutz (31-2, 28KOs) this weekend at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee (Saturday, FOX, 8:00pm ET/7:00pm local time). The visiting mandatory challenger had plenty to say about the lack of hospitality afforded by Plant and his team, whom Feigenbutz referred to as “rude and not good hosts” and whom also dismissed the Ashland City native as anonymous among the Nashville faithful.

NASHVILLE--Caleb Plant has vowed to bring the heat to his upcoming title defense. Vincent Feigenbutz has already countered by bringing the Fire. The visiting mandatory challenger from Karlsruhe, Germany didn’t waste any time making new friends from the moment he arrived in Music City for his title fight versus Ashland City’s Plant (19-0, 11KOs). The two collide this weekend at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena (Saturday, FOX, 8:00pm ET/7:00pm local), which is the home to the National Hockey League’s Nashville Predators and previously to the Nashville Kats of the now-defunct Arena Football League.
