Kell Brook believes his career rival, Amir Khan, has made a very serious mistake in hiring Brian 'Bomac' McIntyre as head trainer.
Khan flew over to the United States to train with Bomac in Colorado. Also assisting in camp is Bomac's star fighter, WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford, who stopped Khan in six rounds in 2019. Crawford also holds a stoppage win over Brook, which took place in 2020.
On February 19 at Manchester Arena, the two British rivals will finally collide.
Brook explains that Bomac and Crawford called Khan a quitter in the aftermath of their 2019 encounter. During that fight, Khan indicated to officials that he unable to continue after suffering a low blow in the sixth.
“Khan’s trainer is new who he has never trained with before for any fight, how is he saying stuff to help him?" Brook told Mirror Fighting.
"He doesn’t even know the man, he is the man who pointed his finger at Amir Khan and called him a quitter and was slagging him off. How are they in New York when his trainer was calling him a quitter and even Terence Crawford himself? Whereas I am settled like a duck to water, this is where I started and the only reason we weren’t together previously has been because of Covid. We do what we normally do and that’s work hard and be professional.
"That’s his opinion about the Ingles, Dominic knows when to push me and when to give me a day off. I am preparing for myself but obviously at the same time the way I am preparing myself is for the best Amir Khan. I have pushed 110 percent, I will be physically and mentally ready to go with no excuses."
