Junior middleweight Brian Mendoza has turned to a new trainer, Bob Santos, as he aims to rebound from a recent unanimous decision loss to Serhii Bohachuk.

Junior middleweight Serhii Bohachuk had 10 days to prepare for his new opponent ahead of winning a 12-round unanimous decision over Brian Mendoza to claim the WBC junior middleweight interim title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 30.

Following his impressive win over Brian Mendoza in Las Vegas last month, Ukrainian boxing star Serhii Bohachuk, 24-1 (23 KOs), was welcomed by the World Boxing Council’s (WBC) Mauricio Sulaiman and WBC Vice-President Alberto Leon for the presentation of his new WBC interim super welterweight title belt at a press conference in Mexico City.

Tom Loeffler believes his fighter Serhii Bohachuk is in a strong position after his unanimous decision win over Brian Mendoza in Las Vegas on March 30.

By Lucas Ketelle - Junior middleweight Serhii Bohachuk delivered the most impressive victory of his career last Saturday.

LAS VEGAS – Brian Mendoza took a late call to come in against Los Angeles-based Ukrainian Serhii Bohachuk less than two weeks ago after Bohachuk’s original foe, Sebastian Fundora, found himself in the main event against Tim Tszyu.

Brian Mendoza (22-3, 16 KOs) prides himself on staying in always shape. So when Saturday's PBC card was rejigged and Serhii Bohachuk (23-1, 23 KOs) was left without a dance partner, Mendoza was ready to field the call.

Tim Tszyu was forced to switch his preparations for one opponent to those for a vastly different one. But he says the challenge of facing Sebastian Fundora will bring out his best in the ring Saturday.
