Brandun Lee: record, next fight and profile →
Benjamin Whitaker claimed his second straight “0” to close out his 2020 campaign. Zsolt Daranyi became the latest victim, as San Antonio’s Whitaker boxed his way to an eight-round majority decision win in their welterweight contest Saturday evening at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Three positive COVID tests later, the final Showtime boxing telecast of 2020 finds a way to move forward. The final weigh-in of the year ends on a high note, as all participants made weight for Saturday’s televised tripleheader airing live from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.. The makeshift main even pits unbeaten Reymart Gaballo and former bantamweight titlist Emmanuel Rodriguez in a 12-round interim title fight.
Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn - Highly regarded 140-pound prospect Brandun Lee (20-0, 18 KOs) proved that he is ready for an even greater challenge, blitzing Jimmy Williams (16-4-2, 5 KOs) with three vicious knockdowns in the first round en route to a stoppage victory.
Brandun Lee didn’t waste any time picking up Wednesday night right where left off in the last televised boxing match in the United States before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Lee knocked down Jimmy Williams three times in the first round, when he knocked out Williams with a devastating left-right combination. The final knockdown left Williams sprawled out across a bottom rope.
Brandun Lee may have a chip on his shoulder building up an unbeaten record thus far, but he is not taking any opponent for granted. The same holds true Wednesday night as he takes a significant step-up in opposition when he faces Jimmy Williams at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. The eight-round welterweight bout will open the ‘ShoBox’ telecast (Showtime, 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT).

ShoBox: The New Generation returns for the first time since March with a four-fight card headlined by exciting, undefeated super welterweight prospects Charles Conwell and Wendy Toussaint in a 10-round main-event bout on Wednesday, October 7 live on SHOWTIME ® (9 p.m. ET/PT) from the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn.
It was weird when Brandun Lee entered an eerily silent arena on March 13 in Hinckley, Minnesota. The unbeaten junior welterweight prospect hasn’t competed before the biggest boxing crowds, but boxing in front of “probably 30” people was a highly unusual experience. Fans weren’t allowed to attend the card he headlined at Grand Casino Hinckley due to the coronavirus pandemic.
