Brandon Rios: record, next fight and profile →
Former two division world champion Danny Garcia (31-1, 19 KOs) is ready to bounce back after suffering the first defeat of his pro career. Danny Garcia feels refreshed. The former welterweight and junior welterweight champion needed a mental and physical break from boxing following his split-decision defeat to Keith Thurman in their 147-pound title unification fight March 4. Brandon Rios knows what’s being said and written about him. Skeptics consider him a shot fighter, entirely too tattered to legitimately compete with Danny Garcia when they square off February 17 in Las Vegas. Those critics have dismissed Rios as a glorified punching bag, a hopeless underdog in way over his head against a former WBC welterweight champion who remains in his physical prime.

Danny Garcia has heard and read all about how his fight against Brandon Rios is supposed to amount to an easy night of work for him. The last time Rios faced a top opponent, former two-division champion Timothy Bradley dominated him on the way to producing a ninth-round technical knockout. Garcia (33-1, 19 KOs) is still in his physical prime and is a bigger puncher than Bradley, thus he, too, is expected to stop Rios (34-3-1, 25 KOs).
Former multi-division champion Robert Guerrero will be a very interested observer of two upcoming Showtime Championship Boxing cards. On February 17th, Danny Garcia (33-1) will return to the ring after an 11 month hiatus and face former champion Brandon Rios at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The only thing that former champion Brandon Rios (34-3-1, 25 KOs) asked for was one more opportunity, a fight that would allow him to show that he possesses real skills in the ring. And now that opportunity is here, when Rios faces former two division world champion Danny Garcia.
