Brandon Figueroa: record, next fight and profile →
Stephen Fulton has been so focused on his goal of unifying the titles that he hasn’t given much thought to the unique experience of hearing fans in attendance for the first time in nearly two years.
LAS VEGAS – Brandon Figueroa figures Stephen Fulton looks at him the same way many other opponents have viewed him. No matter what Fulton has stated to the contrary, Figueroa feels his fellow undefeated 122-pound champion is overlooking him to some degree. Once they square off Saturday night, however, Figueroa is confident Fulton will learn immediately why he isn’t as easy to beat as it may look from outside of the ring.
By Cliff Rold - It’s a battle of undefeated titlists making a habit of fighting undefeated opponents. Saturday night (Showtime, 10 PM EST), two of the three men holding belts at Jr. featherweight will narrow the field. Both are young, both are hungry, both throw leather, and neither knows how to lose. They could have sat on their belts for a defense or two.

Brandon Figueroa and Stephen Fulton both are confident that much more will separate them Saturday night than when they weighed in Friday afternoon in Las Vegas.

A win by Brandon Figueroa on Saturday will place every major junior featherweight title in the same gym. It’s not the conflict of sharing a training facility with unified WBA/IBF titlist Murodjon ‘MJ’ Akhmadaliev (10-0, 7KOs) that would prevent an undisputed championship showdown, however; rather the question of Figueroa continuing to make the 122-pound limit.
Prince Ranch Boxing’s undefeated 122-pound fighter, Ra'eese “The Beast” Aleem (18-0, 12 KOs), ranked #1 by the WBA, might be the best super bantamweight in the world, but he wants to prove it.
Stephen Fulton has been in Brandon Figueroa’s position. Fulton pulled out of his WBO junior featherweight title fight against Angelo Leo due to COVID-19 just three days before they were supposed to square off for that then-vacant championship in August 2020. The Philadelphia native therefore had a unique understanding of how Figueroa felt when he withdrew from their 122-pound title unification fight 11 days before it was scheduled to take place this past Saturday night in Las Vegas.
