Bradley Skeete: record, next fight and profile →
Diego Ramirez stopped Bradley Skeete inside two rounds to claim a fringe WBO belt. The Argentine took on the former British and Commonwealth champion, exclusively live on BT Sport, on Saturday night. Ramirez, 23, was being largely outboxed at the Brentwood Centre in Essex, but he found a left hook to drop the Londoner.
After heavyweight sensation Daniel Dubois pulled out of Saturday’s main event with the flu, top welterweight contender Bradley Skeete was elevated to main event status. Skeete will take on southpaw Diego Ramirez in a 10-rounder for the vacant WBO International title Saturday from the Brentwood Centre in Brentwood, England. Skeete-Ramirez will headline an afternoon of boxing live and exclusively in the United States on ESPN+. The four-bout stream will begin at 3:30 p.m. ET, with Skeete-Ramirez expected to start just after 5:30 p.m. ET.
THE WEEKEND BEFORE last we were over in Los Angeles co-promoting probably the biggest fight of the year at the Staples Center between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. This coming Saturday we are at the Brentwood Centre continuing to build the career of another heavyweight force of nature. The locations don’t matter because both are just as important to us.
Daniel Dubois will return to the ring on December 15 on a night of top championship boxing at the Brentwood Centre, live on BT Sport, that also features British super featherweight champion Sam Bowen making a first defence of his title against Ronnie Clark.
Nathan Gorman continued his rise in the professional ranks with another win. The Nantwich heavyweight had been set to fight two weeks ago in Leicester, at the Morningside Arena, on the undercard of Jack Catterall’s WBO Inter-Continental super-lightweight title defence against Ohara Davies.
IT wasn’t that long ago that Bradley Skeete (27-2, 12 KOs) seemed just a champion’s signature away from challenging Jeff Horn for the WBO Welterweight title. November 2017 in Australia, just four months after the Aussie had shocked the world against Manny Pacquiao. Horn v Skeete looked like it was on. Skeete was ranked four with the WBO but it was the number ten, his fellow Brit Gary Corcoran, who got the call.
BRADLEY SKEETE IS quite prepared to entertain the prospect of sharing a ring with Gary Corcoran, but only if the stakes significantly increase. Corcoran takes on Skeete stablemate Johnny Garton with the vacant British welterweight title on the line this Saturday at the Brentwood centre and the Penge man naturally hopes his friend emerges triumphant.
GARY CORCORAN is planning to wreck gym-mates Johnny Garton and Bradley Skeete inside the next few months. The former world title challenger attempts the first leg of the double when he challenges Garton for the vacant British welterweight title at the Brentwood Centre on Saturday October 20th.
Promoter Frank Warren has told Boxing Scene that Bradley Skeete (27-2, 12 KOs) has vacated the British welterweight title. The vacant 147lbs Lonsdale strap will be contested between Gary Corcoran (18-2, 8 KOs) and Skeete's Peacock Gym mate Johnny Garton (22-1-1, 9 KOs) on October 20 at the Brentwood Centre, Essex as part of a Warren promotion.
As previously confirmed by Matchroom, the promotional company reached an agreement to stage the meeting between the British cruiserweight holder Matty Askin and Lawrence Okolie. The fight will take place on 22 September at Wembley Stadium on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight title defence against Alexander Povetkin.
