Dereck Chisora will now face the hard-hitting Ondrej Pala on Saturday 30th November at London's Copper Box Arena. The Finchley puncher headlines the multi-title show alongside Nathan Cleverly challenging for the Commonwealth Cruiserweight title, plus London stars Frank Buglioni and Bradley Skeete both in title action, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).
North East boxing prospect Bradley Saunders is due to face tough opposition in Krzysztof Szot when they meet in the ring in Gateshead this month. The six round contest takes place on a combined Wraith and Warren promotions show on November 22nd in Gateshead Leisure Centre and will be televised on BoxNation. This will be the first time that the 2008 Beijing Olympian has fought in his beloved north east area for almost a decade. Speaking from his Marbella training camp Bradley Saunders said: "To finally get my debut in the north east is just incredible. The support I always receive in my fights is incredible but to finally get to fight closer to home will be amazing for me."
One of the North East’s, and the UK’s, best prospects should get a first opportunity to fight in front of his home fans next month. Sedgefield’s Bradley Saunders is 7-0 with five KOs and has had pundits and fans raving with some blistering performances. The 2008 Olympian hasn’t yet had a chance though to perform in the region, until now.
By Alexey Sukachev - Wembley Arena, Wembley, London - Heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora (16-4, 10KOs) stopped previously undefeated Malik Scott (35-1-1, 12KOs) in the sixth round of action. Scott boxed well for the first two rounds, with Chisora starting to make some noise in the third and fourth with shots to the body. In the sixth round Scott went down from a big overhand right. When he went down, Scott didn't seem to be very hurt and appeared to miscalculate the count, as he wanted to take a count of eight, but he got up as the referee counted to ten and the fight was waved off. Chisora captures the WBO's international title. The fight started to spoil right after the opening bell. Chisora came back in April after three consecutive losses to Robert Helenius, Vitali Klitschko and David Haye, and was his usual aggressive self from the starters. IBF #13 and WBA #15 Scott was working on the outside, trying to spoil the action as much as he could - which also didn't come as a surprise. Many clinches and lots of holding in the opening session but Scott's powerful left hook to the body made the difference. Same in the second round, when Scott was able to neglect Chisora's wide punches by bobbing and weaving at the ropes, taking much fire on his shoulders and his gloves and retaliating well with sudden uppercuts and body punches. Not much success for Chisora here.
