For Rashidi “Speedy” Ellis (22-0, 14 KOs), it’s not if he’ll have a shot at a world title, but when. In the August 28 co-main event of Linares vs. Fortuna, Ellis will have an opportunity to show why when he faces experienced contender Brad “King” Solomon (28-3, 9 KOs) in a 10-round defense of his WBA Continental Americas Welterweight Title.
ANAHEIM - Welterweight prospect Alexis Rocha dropped Brad Solomon once en route to a unanimous decision victory. Scores were 100-89, 99-90, and 97-92 for Rocha, who improves to 16-0, 10 knockouts. The southpaw Rocha was coming off a knockout victory over Roberto Valenzuela, Jr. in his last bout on Dec. 13. Rocha was hurt during the second round, regained his composure and battered Valenzuela to the point he did not answer round 6.
Welterweight prospect Alexis Rocha understands the road towards a world title opportunity will be tougher with each passing fight. That was the case in his previous fight when Rocha had to overcome adversity. He will again be tested by a former contender who has nothing to lose and everything to gain, should he defeat Rocha.
