Pick It: TBRB #4 Jaime Munguia vs. Gonzalo Coria (Saturday, DAZN, 7:00 PM EST)
In a weekend where it almost feels like there isn’t much boxing going on, we still have the latest chapter in the saga of when will middleweight Jaime Munguia (40-0, 32 KO) do more than tread water.
A former Jr. middleweight titlist, the 26-year old Munguia has seemed willing but his matchmaking has yet to show it for him. 25-year old Gonzalo Coria (21-5, 8 KO) certainly isn’t a step up. Coria has been stopped only once. That could multiply here.
Additional Shows to Watch For
Friday - Lopez vs. Gutierrez (Thompson Boxing YouTube, 10:50 PM EST)
Fans looking for action on Friday night will have welterweight action on this card from Ontario, California. 26-year old Luis Lopez (12-1-1, 4 KO) will be locking horns with 27-year old Adrian Gutierrez (12-0-1, 6 KO). Neither has ever been stopped.
Saturday - Davies vs. Baluta (ESPN+, 2:00 PM EST)
Jr. featherweights headline this card from the UK. 26-year old Liam Davies (12-0, 5 KO) enters off his first twelve round win. 28-year old Ionut Baluta (15-3, 3 KO) is coming off a win and managed a majority decision loss to Michael Conlan the fight before. This is a solid move forward for Davies if he’s going to be a contender. The undercard will feature Anthony Yarde in light heavyweight action as he prepares for a shot at lineal light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev
