Tyson Fury has shaken up the heavyweight division again. The unbeaten British star stunned viritually everyone in boxing with an announcement early Monday morning that he and promoter Frank Warren have signed a multi-fight, co-promotional agreement with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc. and ESPN. BoxingScene.com has been informed by multiple sources that Fury’s partnership with ESPN and Top Rank does not mean he won’t fight Deontay Wilder in a heavyweight championship rematch May 18 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Gervonta Davis and the Showtime family made the most of an undesirable situation. The first televised headliner for the unbeaten southpaw from Baltimore, Md. was supposed to be a much bigger event, as Davis was due to defend his 130-pound title versus former three-division champ Abner Mares.

Jose Ramirez continues to enjoy a sizeable regional following that ranks the 140-pound titlist among the sport’s best ticket sellers in North America today. Growing his televised audience remains a work in progress. The unbeaten super lightweight barely escaped with his title and perfect record intact following his latest bout

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - If you’re a boxing fan of a certain age, it remains an indelible memory. And whether you watched the broadcast live or blearily scanned for results after a Saturday evening spent elsewhere, the moment a certain six-word phrase hit home was monumental. “Mike Tyson has been knocked out.” Iron...

The two-part HBO Sports documentary WHAT’S MY NAME | MUHAMMAD ALI, chronicling the extraordinary life of one of the 20th century’s most iconic figures, debuts TUESDAY, MAY 14 (8:00-10:40 p.m. ET/PT), with both chapters airing back-to-back in a special television event, it was announced today by Kary Antholis, president, HBO Miniseries and CINEMAX Programming, and Peter Nelson, executive vice president, HBO Sports.

If boxing is going to continue to find ways to grow, big fights can’t always be on Saturday night. They don’t even have to be on the weekend, but a Sunday night in prime time on ESPN is fine enough. Ramirez (23-0, 16 KO) makes his second defense of the WBC belt at 140 lbs. against former lightweight title challenger Jose Zepeda (30-1, 25 KO). This clash of Californians will play to a hot crowd and could end up being the best action scrap of the weekend.

Even with the rematch between Sergey Kovalev and Eleider Alvarez limited to ESPN+ subscribers, there was still enough interest in the linear televised portion of Top Rank’s “Super Saturday” card in Texas to produce favorable ratings. The February 2 edition of Top Rank on ESPN—which aired live from The Star in Frisco, Texas—generated an average of 880,000 viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. The telecast performed at or above average in all key ratings areas, including a 0.4 share among male viewers aged 18-49 years old.

Keith Thurman and Josesito Lopez didn’t just deliver a more entertaining, competitive welterweight title fight Saturday night than many expected. The gritty veterans attracted more viewers for FOX, too. Nielsen Media Research figures released Tuesday indicated the “PBC on FOX” tripleheader lured a peak audience of 2,765,000 during the 12th round of the compelling main event between Thurman and Lopez at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The 12-round Thurman-Lopez fight, in which Thurman overcame serious trouble during the seventh round to win a majority decision, drew an average of 2,480,000 viewers.
