The Courier-Journal reports that boxing promoter Chris A. Webb of Straight Out Promotions was indicted on three federal tax charges not related to boxing. Webb made headlines a few years ago when staged the Mike Tyson vs. Danny Williams bout in Louisville in 2004.

According to The-Courier , the first count alleges that Webb failed to report substantial income received from real-estate investments in 1998 and the other two counts allege that Webb failed to file income tax returns for year 2000 (gross income of $593,302), and for 2001 (gross of $582,155). He is facing 5 years in jail on all counts and $350,000 in fines. The trial is scheduled for June 4.

In 2005, Webb’s company, Straight Out Promotions, won a won a $2.7 million judgment in March 2005 in federal court against a Gibraltar-based company failed to turn over international broadcast revenues from the Tyson-Williams bout. But, the money has yet to be recovered because the judgment disputed the court’s jurisdiction over the Gibraltar company.
