Beating Errol Spence Jr. may have pushed Terence Crawford to undisputed status, but there are certain fighters in the welterweight division who simply don’t believe that the Omaha, Nebraska, native is the division’s leading man.

Blair Cobbs has always been as confident as they come. Even after coming up short against Alexis Rocha in March of 2022, the 33-year-old dusted himself off and picked up arguably the biggest win of his career against Maurice Hooker just a few months later.

That aforementioned win has Cobbs floating on cloud nine. Now, with his career back on track, the Philly native is taking aim at Crawford. Although a matchup between them is incredibly unlikely, Cobbs (16-1-1, 10 KOs) recently took the time to juxtapose his skills to Crawford’s. In totality, the fringe contender believes that they're mirror images of one another. Well, other than a few traits that are firmly on his side.

“The only thing that’s different between me and Terence is the fact that I’m ridiculously faster than Terence,” said Cobbs to MillCity Boxing. “And I hit a little bit harder on a certain level.”

Cobbs’ fast hands and pernicious punching power was on full display against Hooker. Viewed as a slight underdog on the night, the garrulous Cobbs dropped the former titlist three times total before cruising to a unanimous decision victory. Ironically enough, Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) shouted instructions to his good friend while sitting in his ringside seat.

Although his advice was extraneous for Hooker, Crawford has put a beating on everyone who’s stepped inside the ring with him. In a conjectural showdown against Cobbs, Crawford has stated on numerous occasions that the 33-year-old wouldn’t stand a chance.

In the end, Cobbs simply wants his chance on the big stage. As he sits back and continues to dissect the overall game of the undisputed champ, he admits that Crawford’s ability to stop an opponent dead in their tracks is impressive. With that said, Cobbs’ analysis brings him to one succinct conclusion when it comes to the power department.

“He has more so consistent punch power, I have out-of-nowhere punching power.”
