WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol is less than two months away from the biggest fight of his career.
Bivol will defend his title against Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez on May 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Canelo, currently the undisputed world champion at super middleweight, is making his second trip to 175-pounds.
The Mexican boxer moved up to light heavyweight back in 2019, when he knocked out Sergey Kovalev to capture the WBO world title.
There have been legendary stories of Canelo dealing with much bigger fighters in camp - including heavyweight contenders.
Bivol is not concerned with any stories connected to Canelo's training camp. He believes the sparring sessions will have no effect on the outcome.
"Canelo can spar against aliens and that doesn't change anything. I've also done it with cruiserweights or heavyweights as well. The truth is, it doesn't matter in the least, because in the end it's just sparring," Bivol told FightHype.com.
Canelo captured his first title at the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds. He would then capture titles at middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight.
The fight against Bivol could be the start of another campaign to unify another division.
Bivol realizes the contest will be a tough one.
"I will try my best to make a good fight. I will try to win and I trust all my skills to make it a great fight for everyone out there," Bivol said.
Bivol was in action back in December, when he outboxed countryman over Umar Salamov over twelve rounds. On the other side, last November Canelo became the undisputed champion at 168-pounds when he knocked out Caleb Plant.
