Virgil Hunter, trainer for former champion Andre Berto, is not getting ahead of himself when it comes to widespread reports of a planned fight with WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

There have been reports stating that a deal was reached for a Mayweather-Berto fight. Hunter and his fighter have not been officially notified of a Mayweather shot for September. Until they are officially notified of the Mayweather opportunity, Hunter is going to view the many reports as speculation.

"So far everything remains speculative. The reality is we do not know if we're going to fight him. The fight has to be made official in order to speak about it. Regardless, Berto is going through a good moment. He is doing well, and his health problems are gone, and so are his personal problems. I think if the fight happens, it's going to be good," Hunter told ESPN Deportes.

"If that fight happens, of course we 're coming in to win, but so far it's just speculation and I don't like talking about it."
