Bernard Hopkins: record, next fight and profile →
Las Vegas- Everyone is geared up for the highly anticipated showdown between Ring Magazine Middleweight World Champion Miguel Cotto and former two-time Super Welterweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez.
Las Vegas - Former two division world champion Bernard Hopkins believes the beating that Miguel Cotto took at the hands of Antonio Margarito will resurface on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay. Back in July of 2008, Margarito started slow, but came back in the later rounds to severely punish Cotto for a knockout win in the eleventh. Less than a year later, there was speculation that Margarito loaded his gloves for that bout - after the Mexican veteran was caught with illegal inserts in his hand wraps - prior to his January 2009 showdown with Shane Mosley.

According to former unified middleweight and light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins - there is no debate. He stamps down WBC flyweight champion Roman 'Chocalatito' Gonzalez (44-0, 38KOs) as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport and places IBO/IBF/WBA champion Genandy 'GGG' Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) within the top three.
During his career, Bernard Hopkins had a historic reign in the middleweight division and one that is unmatched as he still stands as the only fighter to unify the WBO/WBA/WBC/IBF world titles. Last weekend at New York's Madison Square Garden, Hopkins played the role of promoter in a unification fight between Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux; a fight which saw Golovkin unify the WBA, IBO and IBF world middleweight titles with an eight round stoppage of Lemieux, who Hopkins promotes as a partner in Golden Boy Promotions.
On October 3rd, one of Golden Boy’s flagship fighters Lucas Matthysse was stopped by Viktor Postol. This past weekend another star fighter in the Golden Boy stable, David Lemiuex, was stopped by Golovkin. Next month, Golden Boy’s biggest star Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will take on Miguel Cotto for the WBC middleweight crown. Should Alvarez lose, it would be a very bad streak for the company to close things out in 2105
Former undisputed middleweight and light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins is very interested to see how David Lemieux (34-4, 31KOs) bounces back from Saturday's eight round TKO defeat to Gennady "GGG" Golovkin at New York's Madison Square Garden. Hopkins, as partner in Golden Boy Promotions, is the promoter of Lemieux and guides his career with Eye of The Tiger Management.
NEW YORK – As dominant as Gennady Golovkin was Saturday night, Bernard Hopkins didn’t see invincibility from his ringside seat at Madison Square Garden. In fact, Hopkins suspects that fighters in multiple weight classes came away from Golovkin’s ninth-round technical knockout victory over David Lemieux more confident about their ability to knock off the Kazakh knockout artist.
NEW YORK, NY - In the highly anticipated main event on Saturday night, WBA/IBO and WBC "Interim" World Champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) added the IBF Middleweight Title to his collection with an exhilarating performance against former IBF Middleweight World Champion, David Lemieux (34-3, 31 KOs), culminating in an eighth round technical knockout victory on Saturday, October 17, at Madison Square Garden with a sold out crowed of 20, 548 fight fans.
