Miguel 'Alacran' Berchelt guarantees two things for this weekend, the first is that his rematch against Francisco Vargas is a guaranteed war, and the second one is that he feels so good in the camp that he will end the professional career of Vargas.
Berchelt stressed that a victory over Vargas on Saturday could help him propel trainer Alfredo Caballero, since the Sonoran coach also trains two-time world champion Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada.
"We feel very strong, Alfredo always does an excellent preparation, we started in Los Mochis and finished in Sonora, he is a great coach, he just crowned Juan Francisco Estrada, we have two champions and he is showing that the Mexican school is very good," said Berchelt. "Bandido Vargas will come in very strong, to come and present a fight, and we will go out for everything - but because of the wars that Bandido has had, this may be his last fight."
Back in January of 2017, Berchelt stopped Vargas in eleven rounds to capture the WBC super featherweight title.
Now they collide in a rematch on Saturday night in Tuscon, Arizona. And ESPN will televise the bout.
"I think it's a very tough fight for both of us, he's coming with everything. I'm coming in to defend my belt and the winner will be the public, they will see a war, we always have to anticipate a war when you have a fight with Mexico vs. Mexico," Berchelt said.
"I do not know if it's going to be fight of the year, but there will be war and excitement. Whenever I fight I dedicate 100% to the gym to give a good show to the people who stop to buy a ticket. As they know, they already know me and we are not going to remain to duty above the ring.
"Whenever I fight people are waiting for the knockout, because of my record, I hit very hard, 31 knockouts in 35 wins speaks for itself, but I also know how to box, I know how to take hits, I have a great coach like Alfredo Caballero and he knows how to use the technique and we will listen to him to come out with everything and defend our belt."
