The hooting and hollering is something that David Benavidez isn’t a fan of. Of course, he indulges in it at times. If a fighter in or around his weight class begins bashing him with their words, he’s down to do the same.

There’s nothing wrong with a little back-and-forth trash talk but when it doesn’t result in a fight, Benavidez becomes aggravated.

For years the current WBC super middleweight interim champ has gone tit for tat with all of the elite-level names. From Jermall Charlo to David Morrell, Benavidez has a few curse-filled tirades aimed in their direction but no fights lined up.

Even after taking on Caleb Plant in March, Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs) was acrimonious by the amount of time it took for negotiations to play out. Although it all played out in his favor, it was refreshing to run into a fighter who wasn’t all talk.

In the next few days, Benavidez will take on Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade, an undefeated former two-division champion.

Normally, conclaves that team Benavidez are involved in are protracted. Once they drag out, apprehension begins to set in as Benavidez loses hope that things will progress.

In the case of Andrade, things were different. The 35-year-old has always wanted to fight the best. Fighting Benavidez allows him to do just that.

Currently, Benavidez is placing the finishing touches on a well-thought-out training camp. Although he plans on giving Andrade the beating of a lifetime, he does appreciate his willingness to make their negotiations as quick and easy as possible.

“There’s a lot of personas in boxing where they wanna just act like the baddest but when it’s time to make the fight, you see who backs out,” said Benavidez on a recent episode of All Access. “Boo Boo, he didn’t make a fuss about it at all. We came to an agreement real quick.”
