After 900 days in prison, the justice of the province of Santa Fe in Argentina set the date to begin the trial of former world champion Carlos Baldomir, whoe is being accused of sexually abusing his 8-year-old daughter.

The trial will begin on July 25, where the former fighter will be tried for "sexual abuse."

The prosecutor Alejandra Del Río Ayala, of the Gefas Office (Fiscal Unit of Gender, Family and Sexual Violence of the MPA) that will carry out the case and said that they will ask for 20 years in prison.

The case began on October 29, 2016, when Baldomir's ex-wife and mother of the girl filed a complaint with the Center for Counseling the Victim of Family and Sexual Violence. Baldomir was arrested twenty days later, on November 18, 2016, at his house in the Buenos Aires city of Junín where he lived at that time.

Baldomir was born on April 30, 1971 in Los Hornos neighborhood of the city of Santa Fe and the peak of his career was in 2006, year in which he won the world welterweight title of the World Boxing Council (WBC) with a huge upset decision over Zab Judah.

His last high profile fight came in September 2010, when he was knocked out in the sixth round by the Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in Los Angeles, California, and on that night the Guadalajara boxer won the super welterweight silver title of the World Boxing Council (WBC).

And the last time Baldomir saw action in the ring was in 2014, when he lost a ten round decision to Andrey Meryasev.
