If Azumah Nelson, 49, is able to get past Jeff Fenech, 44, on June 24 at Melbourne's Vodafone Arena, he would consider returning for a second fight later in the year against Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, 46. Nelson is coming back after nearly a decade and Fenech has not fought since 1996.  Nelson hopes to repeat the knockout performance that he achieved over Fenech in 1992. Chavez last fought in 2005.

Nelson told Ghana Web that it was Chavez who approached him for a fight a few months ago and because he was in poor physical shape, he turned the Mexican legend down. If he performs well against Fenech, he would like to accept Chavez's offer.

“It was Chavez who proposed the fight some few months back, but I wasn’t in the best of shape so I declined his request,” said Nelson. "Regular visits to the gym places me in a better position to face any challenge that lies ahead. I am in constant touch with Chavez to make the dream fight come true.”
