Having unknown champions in boxing is nothing new and actually fairly common. Most often, it’s an international fighter who resorts to fighting in his hometown where he has a strong local following. Sheltered away, he somehow manages to get a world title and holds it hostage unwilling to come to the United States to fight those that covet it.

How long has it been since Austin Trout appeared before a hometown crowd? His July ’09 fight with Marcos Primera – an eight-round shutout that upped his record to 18-0 (13KO) at the time – was the latest in a series of fights that suggested the talent was there, but that the jury was still out on the New Mexico-based prospect.

San Juan, Puerto Rico - Next Friday, November 11th at the Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texas, will mark the return of Olympian Jose "Sniper" Pedraza (4-0, 3KO's). The young boxer's six-round fight will take place on a card presented by Showtime. His opponent will be announced later.

ONE day not too long ago, what appeared certain suddenly wasn't and one man found himself presented with a once in a life-time opportunity.

An aging boxer who works as a Melbourne wharfie is offered a shot at a world title against an unbeaten American - sounds like a movie script but that's the life of Frank LoPorto.

On November 11, Greg Cohen Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions, in association with Zeferino Promotions, will proudly present the homecoming of undefeated WBA Junior Middleweight Champion Austin "No Doubt" Trout. Trout (23-0, 13 KOs) will defend his belt against Australia's WBA #14 contender Frank LoPorto (15-4-2, 7 KOs) at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texas. The bout will also be Trout's first premium cable television appearance, as it will be broadcast live on Showtime network's SHOBOX: The New Generation.

Junior middleweight contender Erislandy Lara (15-1-1, 10KOs) doesn't believe Anthony Mundine (43-4, 25KOs) will accept a proposal to face WBA "regular" champion Austin Trout (23-0, 13KOs) in a Showtime televised fight on December 31. Lara is ready and willing to fight Trout, who defends his title on Showtime against Frank LoPorto on November 11.

BoxingScene.com has been advised that Austin Trout's management has offered Anthony Mundine a fight date of December 31 on Showtime. The network is planning a major New Year's Eve card, which may include a middleweight unification between champions Daniel Geale and Dmitry Pirog. Showtime expressed interest in having Trout face Mundine on the card. A few days ago Mundine won a twelve round decision over Rigoberto Alvarez to become the mandatory challenger to Trout's WBA "regular" junior middleweight title.

WBA "regular" 154-pound champion Austin Trout has no issue with traveling over to Australia to defend his title against mandatory challenger Anthony Mundine, who on Wednesday secured his shot with a dominating decision win over Rigoberto Alvarez. Trout is already scheduled to fight on November 11, but wants to face Mundine next. There were discussions for the two of them to fight in Melbourne on August 24 but the deal fell through.
