BROOKLYN - A huge fight week featuring the first two heavyweight world title fights in Brooklyn in 115 years kicked off Tuesday with media workouts at world famous Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn.

Polish heavyweights Krzysztof Zimnoch (18-0-1, 12 KOs) and Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) are far from friends. Back in 2013, the two young heavyweights actually brawled at a press conference to announce a fight between the two of them.

by David P. Greisman - The two fights topping this coming Saturday’s boxing card on Showtime have been marketed as "a history-making night." But let’s not mistake any historical significance as meaning the two fights - the main event of Deontay Wilder vs. Artur Szpilka and its preceding co-feature of Vyacheslav Glazkov vs. Charles Martin - are incredibly historical or...

If random drug testing is being conducted for his upcoming heavyweight title fight with Deontay Wilder, it’s news to Artur Szpilka. The heavyweight southpaw is less than 10 days away from challenging for a portion of the division’s crown, headlining a double-heavyweight title fight bill at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Showtime will televise the event, one where the main event participants were rumored to have enrolled in a random drug testing program.

Deontay Wilder worked his way up to challenging for a heavyweight title with hands that knocked out everyone he faced within the opening 12 minutes of every fight. His hands haven't been the same since, even though he went on to capture a title belt and defend it twice.

Deontay Wilder is the defending heavyweight titleholder, but his challenger expects plenty of support when they fight on Jan. 16 in Brooklyn. That’s because Artur Szpilka is from Poland, because the New York City/Northern New Jersey/Long Island area has more than 1 million people of Polish heritage, and because those of Polish heritage have a history of showing up in support of their fighters.

Russian promoter Andrei Ryabinsky of World of Boxing, and Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin, are getting prepared to travel to the United States. As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Povetkin (30-1, 22KOs) and his promoter are going to sit ringside at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York - when WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder defends his world title against 26-year-old Polish contender Arthur Szpilka.

Polish heavyweight Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) continues the tough grind, as he trains through the holidays for the biggest fight of his career on January 16th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. He will challenge Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) for the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight championship.
