CenturyLink Center, Omaha, Nebraska - Omaha native Johnny "Wite Boi" Determan (7-0) delighted his hometown crowd and appeared to be on his way to a knockout victory over Ernie Marquez (9-13-2) in their bantamweight clash when an accidental clash of heads in the third round ended the fight. The ringside doctor stopped the fight and the bout was ruled a no decision in accordance with the rules of the Nebraska State Athletic
Commission.
Determan dropped Marquez with a hard right, left two punch combination to the body. In the opening round. Marquez barely beat the count to rise to his feet but was able to survive the remaining seconds of the round. Determan staggered Marquez again seconds into the third round with a two punch combination to the head. The cut opened up midway through the round when Marquez appeared to be very hurt.
Blue chip welterweight prospect Mikael Zewski improved to 24-0 when he brutally stopped Prince Doku Jr. (18-6) in the 4th round to capture the NABF welterweight title.
Zewski was dominating the fight and landed several hard shots to the body and that sent Doku to the canvas. Doku was unable to beat the 10 count and stayed on the floor for a few minutes before he was able to rise to his feet. The time of the stoppage was 1:05.
Local favorite Bernard Davis (2-0) defeated Heath Cline (0-2) by unanimous decision in their featherweight bout. Davis had the superior hand speed and it showed as he cruised to victory. He hurt Cline on several occasions and almost dropped him towards the end of the 4th round. The final tallies read 40-36 three times.
Undefeated lightweight prospect Casey Ramos (17-0) made a successful return to the ring when he defeated Guillermo Sanchez (13-13-1) via unanimous decision. Ramos had been out of the ring for 2 years and the rust showed as it took him a while to get going. The final tallies were 58-56, 59-55, and 59-56.
Super bantamweight prospect Victor Pasillas (8-0) survived an early knockdown to defeat Jovany Fuentes (5-5) via unanimous decision. Pasillas returned the favor by knocking Fuentes down in the 6th and final round. The final scores were 58-54 on all three cards.
In the evening's opening fight Cody Crowley won his pro debut when he stopped Ronnie Peterson in the second round. Peterson went down three times and the referee reached a count of 10 at the 1:51 mark.
