Newly crowned EU jr welterweight champ Vittorio Oi will have to give ex-ruler Ville Piispanen a rematch. Oi won a controversial technical decision the first time around but Piispanen and his promoter Pekka Maeki protested to the EBU and while Oi is allowed a voluntary defense he will have to make his first mandatory defense against Piispanen.
IBF welterweight king Jan Zaveck is ready for the biggest fight of his career. Zaveck has now obtained his green card and will, according to his promoter SES, defend the title against Andre Berto somewhere in the United States on September 3.
French jr. middleweight Michel Soro takes on David Makaradze for the vacant WBO European title July 29 in Lyon. Soro is promoted by Asventure and Tundra.
