Former champion and Hall of Famer Daniel Zaragoza is really looking forward to the upcoming fight between WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) and pound-for-pound king floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs), taking place on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
If Canelo can pull off the upset, Zaragoza says the 22-year-old Mexican superstar will raise his historical stature to the level of Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. and Juan Manuel Marquez.
Canelo is already drawing record crowds in Mexico and the United States.
"If Canelo wins, he would all of a sudden reach the height of a Julio Cesar Chavez, a Juan Manuel Marquez. At that point, he would be competing to be the best pound for pound of all time in Mexico. It cost Marquez over 20 years of his life to be where he is now. Canelo has great charisma and all of a sudden he finds himself at the gates of history," Zaragoza said.
