BoxingScene.com has learned that a potential fight between former welterweight champions Zab Judah (37-6, 25KOs) and Carlos Quintana (26-2, 20KOs) is being discussed. The idea behind Judah-Quintana is to have the winner fight WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (24-0, 19KOs) at a later date. HBO is interested in the proposed scenario. The network would probably place Judah-Quintana on a future "Boxing After Dark" telecast, and air Berto's fight against the Judah/Quintana winner on their "World Championship Boxing" series.

The two sides, Square Ring [Judah's promoter] and Lou DiBella [Quintana's promoter], have spoken about idea of matching Judah and Quintana, with the winner facing Berto. Both sides indicate that discussions will continue.

"We are certainly open to working something out with Lou DiBella," John Wirt, CEO of Square Ring, told BoxingScene.com.

DiBella told BoxingScene that a fight between Judah and Quintana would create a fan-friendly fight, and a solid future opponent for Berto.

"I've spoken with representatives from Square Ring. I think it's a great fight between two former welterweight champions who are solid fighters," DiBella said. "The winner would be in line to fight Andre Berto for the title."
