Former undisputed welterweight champion Zab Judah (39-6, 26 KOs) is in position to face South Africa's Kaizer Mabuza (23-6-3, 14 KOs) for the vacant IBF junior welterweight. But, Judah's promoter, Kathy Duva of Main Events, indicates that her fighter is ready and able to face the likes of Amir Khan, who holds the WBA title at 140-pounds, and top rated Victor Ortiz.
Both Khan and Ortiz will see action next Saturday in Las Vegas against separate opponents. Khan defends his title against mandatory Marcos Maidana. Ortiz will face Lamont Peterson.
"Obviously, we would love to fight Victor Ortiz, or, even more so, Amir Khan. I would say that Amir Khan would be the first choice since Bradley and Devon Alexander are going to be busy. But Zab's goal is to fight all of them," said Duva.
"So, for example, if an opportunity like Amir Khan comes along, then that's for a title, and we would go for it. If that's not going to happen, then the chances are that we would pursue going after the IBF title and the Kaizer Mabuza fight."
Judah shares the same opinion as his promoter. He wants to evaluate his options for 2011. The 140-pound division is loaded with talent and tough fights. Judah is willing to fight any of the top names at the weight. Whoever Duva secures, he will face.
"They're all fast, strong guys coming up with a lot of heart and a lot of desperation and something to prove," said Judah. "To put them into a time frame, or a category, or in order, no, I'm not going to do that. It's whatever shows up. It doesn't matter to me. I'm in a good position and I like where I am."
