Zab Judah Decisions Vazquez, Peterson Wins

Former undisputed welterweight champion Zab "Super" Judah (35-5, 25 KOs), looking to rebound from the loss to Miguel Cotto in June, returned to the ring at the Hard Rock in Biloxi, Mississippi and won a ten-round decision over Edwin Vazquez (22-11, 8 KOs).

Other than a cut above the left eye of Judah, the fight was uneventful. Judah was able to get some rounds in, but was unable to stop Vazquez, who was coming off a decision loss to Matthew Hatton, the younger brother of Ricky. It was surprising that Judah was unable to stop his opponent, since Acelino Freitas was able to put away Vazquez in seven and Ricardo Torres stopped him within three.

It was Judah's first win since he beat Cosme Rivera in May of 2005. He is scheduled to return to the ring in November.

The scores were 97-93, 98-93 and 100-90.

In the main event, undefeated junior welterweight Lamont Peterson (22-0, 10 KOs) stopped Frankie Santos (15-5, 7 KOs) after six rounds of action. Santos did not come out for the seventh round.

vasquez was their to make Zab look good in put him back in the mix but Judah didnt look to good, back in the days Zab would crush fools like Vasquez he's gettying old.

yo! zab to me looked very good in his performance on espn2 and his opponent vasques wasn't comning in to try to fight cause he knew judah had traps set for him but people who know boxing knows zab still got many fight's to go and as for that cotto fight cotto knows what would of really happened if he didn't take the cowards way by using illegal moves with 2 low blows consective punches to the back of the head come on! lets not be silly cotto was about to get his sorry 1 dimentional *** knocked out early in front of his peeps ,word and its all about action in the big fights coming up so we shall see against the top welterweights soon cause mayweather and delahoya didn't show me a goddam thing !peace

I thought Zab looked good for 10 rounds, and I think that is what people wanted to see. It worked better for him than just a walk-over. His skills even looked like they got better as the night went along, hopefully it'll teach him some things. I still think he was allowing himself to be vulnerable way too much, relying on his dip & dodge routine way too much.

I don't know why ya have so many excuses for this punk. He was talking **** and disrespecting a journey man, has if Judah is bullying an elite fighter, and still couldn't knock him out, and whats the excuse? He had a year layoff, with ring rust? I don't buy that, what ya think sparring is for? To get rounds, move around, the only difference is, you have a head gear off, and if ya say,"well in sparring they take it easy" well they can tell the other guy to go all out. Look what happend on Gleasons gym, with Zabs younger brother, when Joe green put him on his ***,so all that ring rust talk never flies with me, you a pro-fighter, you know what Pro is? I wont say Zab is washed up, he just one of them guys with all world Mayweather talent,but not disipline, focus, and hungry, not to mention a bad trainer. You can't have your parent has your trainer when you pro, children just dont listen to their parents, they always act like they never know anything.
