IBF No.3 ranked super flyweight Z “The Dream” Gorres has accepted the IBF offer for a title eliminator against Jorge Arce of Mexico.

Golden Boy Promotions vice president and international matchmaker Eric Gomez accepted the offer in response to a letter the promoters of Gorres received from IBF Championship Committee chairman Lindsey Tucker.

In his terse response Gomez said Gorres “would love to fight Arce.”

However, Tucker earlier told www.insidesports.ph as well as Viva Sports and Manila Standard Today he didn’t think Arce would accept and that he would then make an offer to the next available challenger.

He said he would go down the line until the IBF finds two fighters willing to fight for the No.1 spot and earn a mandatory title shot against newly-crowned super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan.

Respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer said he too would like to have Gorres fight Arce because he was confident the Filipino southpaw could beat the Mexican.

The ALA Gym patron was also visibly upset over the IBF insistence that Gorres fight another eliminator when he had fought Darchinyan to a draw in an eliminator last February 2 and was made to understand that since the IBF gave Darchinyan the mandatory title shot against Dimitri Kirilov, Gorres would be next in line for a title fight against the winner.
