Flashy southpaw Z “The Dream:” Gorres continues to impress celebrated trainer Freddie Roach and people who crowd his popular Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. Ibn fact Roach has predicted that both Gorres and emerging ring sensation Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista who also trained at the gym for the past couple of weeks will become world champions.

When super flyweight Gorres sparred with the brothers Enrique and Daniel Quevedo yesterday he looked in top shape and as observed by Dr. Ed de la Vega who attended to an abscessed tooth Gorres showed no ill effects of the root canal treatment done by the well-known dentist last week. In the only loss of his career to Edgar Rodrigo it was discovered after the stunning defeat that Gorres had six abscessed teeth which were immediately treated by Dr. Liugi Pastor Jr, the youthful son-in-law of lawyer Rudy Salud who was Gorresl manager at that time.

Gorres was particularly impressive in his movements around the ring and in slipping punches while he also showed a more aggressive style which he would need against Mexico’s WBO champion Fernando Montiel in their title clash on February 24 in Cebu City.

In order to give boxing fans an idea of what kind a fighter Montiel is, Viva Sports will telecast the final round of his title defense against Pedro Alcazar who lost by a sixth round TKO and died two days later of a brain injury on Sunday’s presentation of “The Main Event” at 2:00 p.m. over RPN 9.

Gorres returns home this weekend along with Bautista who faces Feider Viloria on the undercard and outstanding trainer Edito “Ala” Villamor.
