Yvette McCullar takes on Maria Rodriguez on Friday night at the Convention Center in McAllen, Texas on the undercard to Luis Ramos Jr. versus Joshua Allottey.  McCullar (2-0 2 KOs) weighed in at 142 lbs. and her opponent  Rodriguez (2-2) weighed in a little heavy at 148 lbs.  "I had no trouble making weight.  She (Rodriguez) came in a little heavy but its all good.  I am ready to go."  said McCullar who will be fighting her third professional fight.

McCullar competed professionally as a body builder for years and took up boxing late in life.  She is 39 years old and has only two pro fights but feels she can win a world title.  "I love body building but boxing is something that I have always loved as well and always wanted to try professionally."  This will be her first fight in about nine months.  McCullar said, "I was inactive a while because it was hard to get fights.  The business end of boxing was tough and I am still learning it but I feel great and plan on getting a win tomorrow.  I want to build up my fan base and hopefully I will get a title shot.  When I am not boxing I am working in a gym and I take care of myself so I am confident I can reach my goal of winning a title."

Getting fights is always a major challenge for women boxers.  There is a lack of boxers available and some are not willing to take on anyone with a decent record.  "We basically just looked through the internet, my trainer and I and tried to see who could match up with us," said the Texas native.   Now that she has a little more experience in that department she hopes it will be a little easier to find fights and get closer to reaching her ultimate goal.

McCullar likes to put on crowd pleasing fights and plans on putting a great show on for her the fans in McAllen, which isn't too far from her hometown of Killeen, Texas.  "The fans can expect an all action fight.  It is important to me put on a great show.  I want to put on a great show for all the fans."  McCullar hopes that her style will lead to bigger fights down the road.  She also want to grow her fan base.  For fans interested in seeing pictures of Yvette when she was competing in body building they can go to http://www.musculardevelopment.com/browse/index.php?mode=browse&id=13262 to see pictures of her in a competition from 2007.
