A new promotional outfit based in Barcelona, Spain have announced that they have signed Yuriorkis Gamboa (25-1, 17 KOs) to a promotional contract for the next few years.

The Cuban visited the Catalan capital last month and photos have been released of the former Olympic gold medallist wearing t-shirts and a hat with the BB Promotions logo.

In a press release, BB Promotions quoted Gamboa as saying:

“I want to thank BB Promotions for making this new phase of my career possible, very important fights will come for sure. I feel very integrated into this team - it was a great experience to visit Barcelona where I hope to train in the future. I’ve never seen a job done like this in my career by a promoter. I thank all my followers for their attention, I’ll just say to them stay tuned to the website because very important things are coming for me.

David Bogajo, President of BB Promotions said:

“We’ve been working for a long time, we were in touch with boxers such as Guillermo Rigondeaux but in the end we chose Gamboa for his brilliant career and style which the public like. We want to make boxing popular in Spain and we will work with Gamboa on that. We will keep working to sign the best available boxers.”

Gamboa last fought in December of 2015, winning a unanimous decision over Hylon Williams Jr in Verona, New York.
