Winky Wright, initially unwilling to take part in a rematch with middleweight champion Jermain Taylor, may be willing to stage a rematch if the financial terms are agreed upon. Wright, who took the short-end of a 55-45 split to make the fight with Taylor, told The Tampa Tribune he wants a 50-50 split if a rematch is put together.
"It's different fighting as a champion vs. fighting as a challenger. It's much different money-wise. If we do it again, it has to be 50-50. I took 45 percent to make this fight, but it has to be even next time," Wright said.
After it was announced that his bout with Taylor was a draw, Wright left thr ring without talking to the HBO announcers and refused to talk to members of the media. Wright made decision to stay quiet rather than say something he would later regret.
"I didn't say anything to the media because I didn't say anything that I might regret later. I decided I really didn't want to say anything until now. Now that things have settled down, I'll see what we will do."
