New Jersey junior middleweight contender Pawel Wolak will pursue his ninth straight win, his third consecutive knockout as well as his sixth stoppage during that run when he takes on Domincan Republic-born Delvin Rodriguez of Danbury, Connecticutt on July 15 on ESPN's Friday Night Fights at the Roseland Ballroom in New York, according to his manager, Ivan Edwards.
Edwards said that "The contracts have been signed for the fight," which originally was reported by BoxingScene.com as being a consideration for the 29-year-old Wolak (29-1, 19 knockouts).
Wolak is coming off of the biggest win of his career -- a sixth-round stoppage of former WBA champion Yuri Foreman (28-2, eight KOs) that took place on March 12.
Wolak is looking to stay busy while also setting himself up for potentially big fights against fighters such as WBA junior middleweight king Miguel Cotto (36-2, 29 KOs), Ukrainian southpaw WBO junior middleweight king Sergiy
Dzinziruk (37-1, 23 KOs), IBF king Cornelius Bunderage (30-4, 18 KOs) or WBC champion Saul Alvarez (36-1, 26 KOs).
The 31-year-old Rodriguez (25-5-2, 14 KO) is a rising welterweight who has lost three of his past four fights, and is coming off of July's 10-round, majority decision loss to Ashley Theophane as a welterweight.
Prior to facing Theophane, Rodriguez had earned April's 12-round, unanimous decision over Mike Arnaoutis.
In August of 2009, Rodriguez lost a split-decision to South Africa's Isaac Hlatshwayo (30-2-1, 10 KOs) during a failed bid to earn the IBF's vacant crown.
That loss ended Rodriguez run of 4-0-1, that had included two knockouts and a November of 2008 draw with Hlatshwayo.
