World champ Sidorenko on his way to Japan. Set to make sixth world title defense  in Osaka/Japan on January 10

WBA bantamweight world champion Wladimir Sidorenko (20-0-2, 7KOs) is on his long way to Japan for his title defense against the Japanese Nobuto Ikehara (27-1-19KOs).

After intensely training over the holidays with Universum trainer Michael Timm, the Ukrainian "Mini-Power Station" and co-trainer Valentin Silaghi will make final preparations in Osaka. The 31 year Ukranian will face the Japanese challenger Ikehara at the Prefectual Gym next Thursday.

The event in Osaka will also feature WBC bantamweight champion Hozumi Hasegawa (22-2, 7 KOs) against challenger Simone Maludrottu (27-1, 10 KOs) of Italy, which will provide very interesting cross-comparison of the two world champion bantamweights.

Sidorenko's coach Michael Timm, who is also currently training WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev and WBO super welterweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk for their title defenses on the big January 19th "Universum Champions Night" in Düsseldorf against Matt Skelton and Lukas Konecny, is scheduled to arrive on January 8th.
