The latest instalment of Prizefighter is due to take place this Saturday night as the International heavyweights lock horns at the Alexandra Palace in London. According to a report in Boxrec News, Matchroom Sport are already booking fighters for a welterweight competition a month later.

The tournament is set to take place on June 7th as Ian McNeilly writes and former WBC light-welterweight champion Junior Witter has already signed up to take part as he bids to get his career back on track after three defeats in his last four contests.

Also in the frame are former Prizefighter light-welterweight finalist Colin Lynes (34-8, 12 KO’s), who put up a great performance in Liverpool in February against Bradley Pryce and UK-based Moroccan Yassine “The Showman” El Macchi (14-4), who has racked up ten straight wins.

Several other welterweights come to my mind when thinking of fighters to fill the other five places. The likes of Michael Jennings, unbeaten Mark Heffron and Scotland’s Gary McMillan would all be good additions to the eight-man tournament format.
