With a world title shot around the corner, The-People.uk reports that junior welterweight Junior Witter still wants to lure his countryman Ricky Hatton into a long awaited clash.
Witter feels that by beating DeMarcus Corley for the vacant WBC junior-welterweight title, a fight with Hatton could be the next step.
"Winning the world title, something I've worked so hard and waited so long for, would be the biggest result for me. It will also mean something to me because it sticks it to Hatton. But what he has achieved in his career doesn't particularly bother me. The only thing about him that bothers me is that he won't take the fight - and hasn't for years," Hatton said.
Witter feels that Hatton has been ducking him for several years, but he is willing to chase Hatton until the undefeated superstar announces his retirement. He feels that his style is tailor made to beat Hatton.
"It's a fight the public and I deserve. And it's one I'm going to want until Hatton retires. But winning this title will mean he'll have run out of excuses. It really would put the pressure on him to come and fight - it'd put him into a corner. He's a good, capable fighter but his team have known for years that, of all the people out there, I'm the one person they don't want him to box and it must burn him. I've got the winning style and winning power against him," Witter said.
"I've grown as a fighter and as a person. I'm a man now and it's my time."
