Sheffield junior-welterweight Junior Witter plans to make a statement when he meet DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley at Alexandra Palace, London, on September 15. Witter tells Sheffield Today that he expects a very tough fight from Corley. The bout is for the vacant WBC junior-welterweight title.
"I am looking forward to it. It's been a long time coming and it won't be easy. You have got to rate Corley, he is a tough fighter and a former WBO champion. But the WBC belt is the one to win. It is the original, the one everybody wants," said Witter
A win over Corley may land Witter the fight he wants most - against fellow UK star Ricky Hatton. Hatton is preparing to move back down to 140 pounds to challenge IBF champion Juan Urango on December 9, and named Witter as a possible opponent if Witter happens to win the WBC title.
