According to a recent report in German paper Bild, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is going to defend his title against mandatory challenger Juan Carlos Gomez on the tentative date of March 21 in Stuttgart, Germany. Promoter Ahmet Öner of Arena Box told the paper that a deal is close being finalized and there will be no need for the two sides to head to a purse bid.

Last month, Vitali had reached an agreement with David Haye for a June fight. Haye last fought in November and there is plenty of time for an interim bout to be scheduled. Prior to Gomez making a push for his mandatory fight, Haye was planning to sit out until the fight with Vitali. Given the current situation, Haye will probably take a fight before the potential June meeting.

When an agreement with Vitali was reached, Haye claimed that K2 was hiding Wladimir and intentionally using Vitali, known for a much better chin, as a road block. Wladimir has been linked to making a defense of his WBO/IBF titles against undefeated Chris Arreola in May. Now with Haye being available, it's expected that Wladimir will once again become the target of his verbal assaults. More so than Haye, fans will once again push for the two fighters to meet.
