One of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport, Ronald "Winky" Wright (51-4, 25 KOs), has been MIA since a unanimous decision loss to Bernard Hopkins on July 21 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Wright tells the Tampa Tribune that he's playing the waiting game to give his eye some additional time to heal and to view the outcomes of a few fights in order to plan out his future.

During the the third round of his bout with Hopkins, Wright suffering a a bad cut over his left eye after the two fighters clashed heads.

"I have to let this eye heal up, so I'm not obligated to anything right now," Wright said. "I want to wait and let a few fights happen, so I can see what happens and where I stand."

Wright, who fought Hopkins at a catch-weight of 170, said afterwards that he would move back down to 160-pounds, currently filled with a line of possible opponents like Kelly Pavlik, Edison Miranda, Jermain Taylor, Arthur Abraham and Felix Sturm.

If he were to get his way, he would love to lure Oscar De La Hoya into a potential fight at a catchweight between 154 and 160. Making that fight would depend on the outcome of Floyd Mayweather vs. Ricky Hatton on December 8. De La Hoya has made it more than obvious that he wants to fight Hatton in 2008, should Hatton win.
