Middleweight contender Willie Monroe is off of tonight’s Thompson Boxing card in Ontario, Calif., matchmaker Alex Camponovo advised BoxingScene.com Thursday night.
Monroe was scheduled to fight in an eight-round stay-busy fight, but Camponovo stated a suitable opponent could not be secured.
Monroe, who is promoted by Banner Promotions, was also scheduled to fight on January 29 in Elk Grove, a suburb of Chicago. The fight fell through at the 11th hour, leaving the middleweight contender inactive since last May's six round knockout loss to WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight world champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin.
In the main event at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, junior featherweight contender Daniel Roman (17-2-1, 5 KOs) will fight Ramiro Robles (12-4, 7 KOs) in a 10 round bout.
Unbeaten heavyweight LaRon Mitchell (10-0, 10 KOs), who was a 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials Finalist, squares off against Juan Manuel Dominguez Silva (6-2, 3 KOs) in a six round bout.
