Sam Sexton’s withdrawal from a proposed showdown with British heavyweight champion Danny Williams, which was due to take place on the 15th of May at Upton Park, has seen Derek ‘Del Boy’ Chisora, 12-0 (7 early), handed a chance to vie for Williams’ Lonsdale belt according to BoxingScene.com’s sources.  Sexton was due to put his Commonwealth belt on the line in a dual title showdown but must now sit on the sidelines as Chisora, who defeated Sexton by sixth round TKO in 2008, gets first crack at the increasingly fragile looking Williams.

Chisora defeated Cark Baker in a British title eliminator back in February; he was set to contest a ten-rounder on the Upton Park bill and must now prepare himself for a crack at Williams, 41-8 (31 KOs).  Though Danny has looked poor in recent fights, most notably his Prizefighter defeat to the aforementioned Baker, the ‘Brixton Bomber’ does have a history of turning his career around in the most dramatic of circumstances and should not be written off in this one.
