Puerto Rican veteran Wilfredo 'Papin' Negron (26-16-1, 19KOs) has announced his retirement from professional boxing after spending 15 years in the sport. He came to a decision after losing by way of a fifth round knockout on November 11 in Canadá to undefeated junior welterweight prospect Dierry Jean (19-0). Negron was a tough journeyman fighter who was often thrown in with young up and coming boxers.
"It's true, I won't fight anymore," said Negron, 37-years-old. "I will be coaching little kids here in Toa Alta. Hence I have the long-awaited debut of my son, who I'm struggling with. He is 17 years now and is bigger than me. I think he will debut when he's 18 years old. He's 165 pounds he's very strong."
