ROCK & SOCK NAMED WIBA ’05 PROMOTER OF THE YEAR
At the end of every calendar year, the WIBA (Women’s International Boxing Association) announces their annual awards, to honor the best in the sport of women’s boxing. The 2005 WIBA Promoter of the Year Award has been presented to Rock & Sock Productions, who promote the only all women’s boxing series, "A Ring of Their Own."
WIBA President Ryan Wissow commented that " Rock & Sock Productions has been an instrumental and positive force in the growth and improvement of women’s boxing. Their series provides fighter competitive fights and gives fighters the chance to further their careers."
Rock & Sock promoters Arnie Rosenthal, Ken Weiss and Stuart Breslow issued this statement:
"When we began "A Ring of Their Own", we never dreamed that the response would be so overwhelming. To receive the Promoter of the Year award from the preeminent women's governing body caps an incredible year. However we could never have done it without the fantastic body of women fighters throughout the world that helped make our shows what they were. And our staff of Wanda Bruce, Amy Green, and Jackie Kallen helped make it all possible. We look forward to next year and hope that we can out do ourselves and continue to work in tandem with the WIBA and Ryan Wissow."
The WIBA was established in 2000 by Wissow and is recognized internationally as one of the leading sanctioning bodies for women’s boxing. Rock & Sock Productions produces the only all women’s boxing series, "A Ring of Their Own, which is distributed on cable TV and via satellite to over 40 million homes in the US and Canada.
