Las Vegas - Prior to the fighters making weight, announcer Michael Buffer announced a few of the big names at the weigh-in, including WBO super bantamweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez and boxing great Roberto Duran. Close to 5,000 Filipino and Puerto Rican fans crowded in to watch the two fighters make weight for Saturday's welterweight clash at the MGM Grand.
New York Giants player Brandon Jacobs was announced by Buffer. He received a high level of boos until he started calling for chants by the Filipino and Puerto Rican fans to represent their respective country. Then Jeremy Piven, star of HBO's Entourage, was announced. He received plenty of boos from fans who wanted the fighters to come out.
The challenger, Manny Pacquiao was the first fighter to come to the stage. WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto arrived next. Both received loud reactions from the fans. Pacquiao came in at a ripped 144-pounds. Cotto came to scales, also ripped, and made the catch-weight mark of 145-pounds.
