David Carmona is once again on the doorstep of a major fight at the top level of the junior bantamweight division. First he must get past Warlito Parrenas, as the two square off in a scheduled 12-round main event in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Both fighters made weight for their interim junior bantamweight title fight, which airs live on TV Azteca in Mexico and beIN Sports Español in the United States. Carmona came in right at the division limit of 115 lbs. Parrenas was a shade under at 114.5 lbs.

The winner will claim an interim title, and more importantly will be first in line for a lucrative showdown with unbeaten Naoya Inoue. That bout will come later this year, with Inoue obligated to the showdown upon returning from injury.

Ramon Alvarez—the older brother of boxing superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez—fights for the first time in 2015, as he faces Richar Gutierrez. Both fighters came in at 154 lbs. for their schedule 10-round bout.
